Jared W. Whaley

Jared Whaley joined Coffey Burlington in 2018. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, criminal defense, and other white collar matters, including compliance issues. Before joining the firm, he served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, where he tried nearly 30 jury trials to verdict, 21 as lead counsel. As an Assistant Public Defender, Mr. Whaley took and defended hundreds of depositions, handled evidentiary hearings, chaired the office’s inaugural task force on forensic evidence, and taught evidentiary seminars for both the private criminal defense bar and defender organizations.     

Before his service as an Assistant Public Defender, Mr. Whaley was an associate at a prominent criminal defense and commercial litigation firm in Miami.
